Summary: "The Plain + Simple Guide to Music Publishing"
This book is amazing. The author is able to communicate his knowledge in a manner which is entertaining and easy to grasp. In addition to ''giving information'', he also forewarns readers about the many pitfalls that writers may encounter when having their works published, which is extremely valuable information. Very helpful book for anyone wishing to learn about music publishing. I highly recommend it !

Summary: "Must Read For Anyone Getting Into The Music Business!"
I rarely offer feedback on a book. However, this is truly a great read. I began as a singer, musician in the early eighties. I have learned much of the business via osmosis, some of it incorrect. This book is deep. If you are new to the business or a veteran trying to REALLY learn the industry, plan on reading this book more than once. The chapters require a good understand of previous chapters to absorb and benefit the material. I discovered great insight for the least amount of investment I have ever spent in the music business.

Summary: "Excellent!"
EXTREMELY informative and easy to understand. I like the fact that the author speaks to you as a human being and doesn't just provide you with starchy "legal jargon" that outlines the rules of music publishing. This book had me highlighting something every other page on my Kindle, and I've already referenced those notes many times. Great recommendations on other music publishing books inside as well. Definitely worth the money!

Summary: "Excellent book but why spend more for an old edition?"
There is a second edition of this book with new information. Believe me this is the kind of book where updates are important. Dealers charging $72-$222 for an outdated edition is crazy in my humble opinion. Look on this product page and see that there is a second edition for $13, why pay collectible prices for this kind of book?

Summary: "Exactly what the title says it is"
This book is a just the facts approach to music publishing. The writing is at about a sixth grade level (which is the same reading level of Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter) to allow for easy comprehension by anyone. If you already know about publishing, this book won't have anything new. It's an ideal resource for a teen band that's getting buzz and needs to know about all those contracts and deals that are starting to come their way. Just like the title says, the book is a plain and simple guide. It's not designed to entertain, but inform. It's a slender book that isn't going to deluge you with a lot of unnecessary detail and jargon. Given its low price, I'd recommend this book to any songwriter or composer just starting out as a professional.
